I love this image featuring the style of Gustav Klimt. I have always loved the paintings of Klimt. I also love that his name, Gustav, is in the name of my own grandfather, Karl Gustav Klang. Klang was the name he took in the Swedish army, which was mandatory for every young man for two years. There were too many Carlson’s so they gave the men new surnames that they could keep after their service.
This stylized Christmas Tree reflects the influence of Gustav Klimt who lived between 1862 and 1918 in Vienna. Klimt was best known for his paintings of woman, and the interesting backgrounds featuring gold and other colorful shapes all around the subject and on their clothing. Klimt took the everyday and painted it extraordinarily. We can choose to look at the ordinary things in our own lives with the same awe and imagination as Klimt, and enrich our world with fantasy and glorious appreciation. This Christmas Card reflects Klimt’s world of delicious delight with rich colors and painterly impressionism.
